Day activities in this remote jungle area where nature and you will be one!
Day 1: Into the Wild – Welcome to Kabalebo
- 11:00 AM: Depart from Paramaribo’s Zorg & Hoop Domestic Airport for a scenic 1-hour flight over the lush green canopy of western Suriname.
- Upon landing, you’ll be greeted by the resort team and transferred to the Kabalebo Nature Resort, your base for the next few days of immersion in the Amazon wilderness.
- After a welcome drink and lunch at the lodge, your jungle adventure begins with an introductory forest hike. Depending on conditions and your preference, we’ll explore:
- The Beechcraft Trail – a forest walk near the old airplane wreck
- BWKW Rapids Trail – featuring rapids and rich flora
- Misty Mountain foot trail to Sand Creek
- Enjoy a relaxing drift back by dugout canoe, spotting birds and perhaps monkeys along the riverbanks.
- Evening: Dinner served with delicious Surinamese flavors. Relax on the panoramic veranda, enjoy stargazing, or unwind in a hammock listening to the jungle sounds.
Day 2: Summit & Serenity – Misty Mountain & Charlie Falls
- Early breakfast before a guided jungle hike and mountain ascent.
- The Misty Mountain trail is a 5-hour hike through pristine rainforest filled with exotic wildlife, medicinal plants, and hidden beauty. The climb is moderately challenging but rewarded with breathtaking views at the summit.
- Enjoy a picnic lunch at the top with a 360° rainforest panorama.
- On the way down, we make a refreshing stop at Charlie Falls for a swim or rest.
- Return to the lodge in the afternoon. Cool off in the pool or take a siesta before dinner.
- Evening: Enjoy stories from the guide, or opt for a quiet evening surrounded by nature.
Day 3: Rainforest Rivers – Moi Moi Waterfall Adventure
- After a hearty breakfast, hop into a dugout canoe and journey upriver to the starting point of the Moi Moi Falls trail.
- This is an educational guided walk where you’ll learn about the ecology and survival strategies of the rainforest. Keep your eyes open for toucans, capuchin monkeys, or even a tapir!
- Lunch will be served at the foot of the waterfall where you can relax, swim, or photograph the beautiful cascade surrounded by jungle.
- Canoe back to the lodge in the afternoon for wildlife spotting along the riverbanks.
- Evening: Dinner and optional night walk to hear the nocturnal jungle come to life.
Day 4: Final Adventures – Kilo 3 Creek & Kayaking
- After breakfast, float downriver to Kilo 3 Creek for a short hike to the Kilo 3 Rapids.
- Enjoy lunch and a river massage at this hidden oasis.
- Return to the lodge by boat, and prepare for the final activity: a kayak adventure.
- Paddle downstream at your own pace back to the lodge, soaking in your final moments of the rainforest.
- After lunch, transfer to the airstrip for your afternoon return flight to Paramaribo.
